“Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”
In the beginning, before time was, before earth stirred her breezes, before the sea could roar, there was God.
He was complete. He did not ‘need’. He never had a lack. He had scores of angelic beings to wait on Him.
And He got to work, creating.
He is Creator, after all. Creators create.
So He spoke light into existence.
You and I have the power of light. We flip a switch, and voila! Let there be light!
Using a pre-designed electrical system, however, is not the same as designing the laws of physics around energy and wavelength and spectrum colours and –
You get the idea. Complicated stuff. Stuff whispered about by super smart people in lab coats who spend a lifetime studying and still can’t reproduce, let alone understand the mysteries of light.
And it came about through God’s voice.
You and I, created in the very image of God, also can speak things into existence.
We can speak life or death, curse or bless.
We can reinforce darkness, or use our words as Light.
It is simply astonishing to see littles blossom under compliments. Not just laying on nonsense with a trowel, either – a true compliment. When their acts of kindness are noticed and appreciated, or their struggles and triumphs acknowledged by words, the effects are truly beautiful.
They stand taller.
Their shoulders rise and they step into the next part of their journey with a little more confidence, a little more courage, a little more joy.
What words will you speak over those you come into contact with today? Will you build others up, or tear them down?
What words will you speak over YOURSELF today? Will what you think about and tell yourself be grace-filled, or be a dose of swamp water to your soul?
