Light That Leads to Life

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.””
‭‭John‬ ‭8:12‬ ‭

Incredible, what you can see with proper lighting.

Like – where you are on the highway, for example.

I was having trouble. Seeing, I mean. It felt like my headlights were – wussy. Not living up to their hype, so to speak.

I pulled over.

Yeah.

They were smeared in mud.

A quick wipe, and we were in business. And what a difference clean headlights can make to navigation.

How often am I walking – or driving – in the dark, wondering if I’m on the right track, when I could be walking in the light?

How about you?

Are things a little – messy? The curves hard to make out? Difficult to see very far down the road?

I know. I’ve been there.

Which is why it’s so important to have light.

And not just any old light. Not muddied headlights, for example. The light of life.

Imagine, illumination that will lead not only to safety, but security. Fulfillment. Hope.

Life.

Seek this Light with me?

Father, thank You for sending Jesus into our dark world to bring not only visibility to our path, but purpose, joy, and life that is truly life. Give us courage and persistence to follow Jesus wherever He may lead. Amen.

I am actually a bit of a mess. But in the mess, I’m finding security in knowing I am chosen, I am forgiven, and I matter. After uncovering a history of abuse in my past, I have done a lot of healing - and writing is one way I can invite you deeper into your own healing journey! I write devotionals about the complicated thing called life at growing-in-grace.ca, and my poetry is stashed at melodylowes.com. Pull up a chair and a coffee or tea and let's grow together!
